Exploring Earlier Awareness at Home
PROTOTYPE
One direction we're exploring is how home activity observations can provide earlier context around a designated pet exit area.
The current prototype explores a Ring-enabled experience in which repeated observations near a designated exit can contribute to a provisional warning for the owner.
In the prototype, three near-exit observations within ten minutes can produce a “Possible Escape Attempt” warning.
The warning is intentionally explainable and provisional. It indicates that a pattern has been observed and may deserve attention; it does not establish that a pet is escaping.
The prototype does not identify a pet from Ring footage and does not use an AI model to determine that a pet is escaping.
The experience is designed to support awareness, not replace the owner's judgment. The owner decides what action to take.
The goal is not to make a decision for the owner, but to provide useful context when a pattern may be worth noticing.
